A Global-South Perspective on Sustainable Finance: the Case of Brazil

Nell’ambito dell’insegnamento di Economia dello sviluppo (CdL Triennale in Economia e Commercio), mercoledì 11 ottobre 2023, alle ore 14:00 presso l’aula 01 del Polo Piagge (Via Giacomo Matteotti 11, Pisa), Fernando Amorim Teixeir terrà il seminario dal titolo “A Global-South Perspective on Sustainable Finance: the Case of Brazil”.

Fernando Amorim Teixeira, economista brasiliano con esperienza in organizzazioni del terzo settore, istituzioni pubbliche e settore privato, ha lavorato recentemente come consulente in progetti riguardanti le varie dimensioni della transizione verde, in particolare nelle infrastrutture e nella (de)carbonificazione dell’industria.

Fernando Amorim Teixeira is a brazilian economist with experience in third sector organizations, public institutions and the private sector. Recently has been working as a consultant with a plural spectre of stakeholders in projects regarding the various dimensions of green transition, especially in infrastructure and industry (de)carbonification. Those projects includes the perspective of governments and corporations, like at the Brazilian Sovereign Wealth Funds Forum (FFSB) and at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH GIZ (coordinating a Working Group in sustainable finance Taxonomy) and, civil society and unions approach with the Brazilian Net of People´s Integration (REBRIP). Between 2011 and 2023, worked in the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Studies Socioeconomics (DIEESE) carrying out training, research and studies related to the Brazilian banking sector. From 2015 to 2018 joined the Brazilian Institute of Social and Economic Analysis (IBASE) team monitoring social and environmental impacts of the brazilian national development bank (BNDES) disbursements and following the socio-environmental conditions on the agenda of the financial G20, the World Bank, the NDB, among others. Fernando holds a PhD in Economics from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF/Brazil) and has published academic articles and book chapters on financial system, infrastructure financing, development banks and green transition. Between 2021 and 2022 worked as a substitute professor at the Institute of International Relations of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ/Brazil).
